Jasheem Wilson is a Bay Area author whose work explores survival, trauma, power, and identity through emotionally intense, character-driven storytelling. His writing is known for its unflinching honesty, psychological depth, and long-form narrative arcs that trace how loss reshapes a person over time.
He is the author of the She Was a Friend of Mine series, a multi-book saga that follows Scheyenne “Shi” Iverson, a young woman from East Palo Alto whose life is irrevocably altered after a violent act destroys her family. What begins as a coming-of-age story evolves into a sweeping exploration of loyalty, betrayal, revenge, and rebirth, charting Shi’s transformation from grieving child to powerful figure navigating the criminal underworld—and ultimately, to a woman forced to redefine herself beyond violence.
Across the series, Jasheem examines the cost of survival, the illusion of control, and the emotional toll of living in constant warfare with the past. His work balances grit with vulnerability, interrogating whether identity can survive trauma—or be rebuilt after everything familiar has been stripped away.
Through immersive world-building and deeply human character arcs, Jasheem Wilson crafts stories that linger, offering readers not just suspense and drama, but a meditation on what it means to endure, to lose, and to begin again.
Author of Secrets Before I Do and Bridal Party
’Nique is an emerging Bay Area author whose fiction blends psychological suspense with emotionally charged relationship drama. His work explores betrayal, obsession, and the dangerous consequences of secrets—often placing polished, successful characters into situations where control unravels and survival is no longer guaranteed.
His debut novel, Secrets Before I Do, is a dark, high-stakes psychological thriller set against the backdrop of San Francisco. The story follows a successful attorney whose discovery of her fiancé’s deception pulls her into a spiral of obsession, dangerous desire, and a murder mystery that blurs the line between love and survival. Tense, seductive, and emotionally relentless, the novel examines how quickly trust can become a weapon—and how well we truly know the people closest to us.
In contrast, Bridal Party expands ’Nique’s storytelling range with a glamorous yet suspense-filled ensemble narrative. Set during a luxury destination wedding gone disastrously wrong, the novel centers on five estranged friends forced to confront long-buried betrayals after a catastrophic event leaves them stranded and exposed. Blending sharp wit, psychological tension, and character-driven drama, Bridal Party explores friendship, privilege, and the lethal weight of unspoken truths.
Based in the Bay Area, ’Nique is a rising voice in contemporary Black fiction, crafting binge-worthy stories where emotional intimacy and psychological suspense collide.
